Love is in the air when Hollywood arrives in Mermaid Bay, and the town may never be the same.
Fans will do almost anything to get a glimpse of the actors or a chance to be an extra in the Love Channel’s “My Coastal Valentine.” Crowds flock to the cozy beach town from all over and business is booming for Christmas shop owner, Jade Hicks until the body of a testy reporter is found in one of the actors rooms. And if murder isn’t bad enough, someone tries to kill the show’s star, hunky Raphael Allard.
The cozy little beach town feels cursed, as the Love Channel threatens to pull out of the project. Jade and the gang, Lorelei, Peppermint Patti, Bernie, Chloe, and Neville the Devil Cat, have to solve the crimes before it ruins the town’s reputation and breaks the hearts of fans across the country.

Q&A With the Author
How long did it take you to get your first work published (from creation to actual book)? What was your first published work?
My first published novel was Secret Lives and Private Eyes, the first in my Delanie Fitzgerald Mysteries. The book took five years to write and then another two years to get published. My first ever traditionally published work was the short story, “Washed up” in the Sisters in Crime Anthology, Virginia is for Mysteries.
Plotter (one who plans or plots out every detail of the writing process) or Pantser (one who writes by the seat of his/her pants)?
I’m a plotter. I like to outline each book. I like to know who the killer is and why. I also like to know all the motivations. But sometimes the characters have a mind of their own, and we veer from the outline.
What advice do you have for a new writer?
Writing is a business. You need to treat yours like that. It is work (a lot of work). Be persistent and don’t give up if you really want to be published. It’s a tough business, but there is nothing like opening that box of books with your name on it.
What is the easiest part of the writing process for you?
I like researching, outlining, and writing. Those are the fun parts for me.
What is the one thing about the writing life that you didn’t know until you were published?
I thought I was going to write books and deposit royalty checks. I had no idea how much marketing and promotion are involved with the writing life.
