Fairies are trending hard, especially when it comes to fairy garden décor in Walmart and Target and on Amazon. The latest installment in the nationally bestselling Daryl Wood Gerber’s Fairy Garden mysteries is a perfect read for Laura Childs readers and all fans of whimsy and charm.

With a theater foundation tea and an art show planned at Violet Vickers’s estate, Courtney is hired to create charming fairy gardens for the event. It’s not so charming, however, when her best friend Meaghan’s ex-boyfriend turns out to be Violet’s latest artistic protégé. Even worse, not long after Meaghan locks horns with him, his body is found in her yard, bludgeoned with an objet d’murder.

There’s a gallery of suspects, from an unstable former flame to an arts and crafts teacher with a sketchy past. But when the cops focus on Meaghan’s business partner, who’s like a protective older brother to her, and discover he also has a secret financial motive, Courtney decides to draw her own conclusions. Fearing they’re missing the forest for the trees, and with some help from Fiona the sleuthing fairy, she hopes to make them see the light . . .

Q&A With the Author

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

I loved exploring the world of art and getting a feel for different styles of art from huge paintings to miniatures as well as sculptures. I enjoyed learning more about Fiona and her friends and deepening the friendship and bonds between Courtney and Meaghan as well as between Courtney and Brady.  I also had a blast delving deeper into the artistry of making fairy gardens. During the time I wrote the book,

I made another three gardens for my backyard.

Do you have any other books you are working on that you can tell us about?

I have another Cookbook Nook Mystery coming out in April. It’s titled POACHING IS PUZZLING and features a crossword puzzle conference. If you love crossword puzzles, please tune in. I had so much fun writing the story and researching puzzles and their creators, also known as cruciverbalists.

Can you tell us about what you have planned for the future?

Yes, I’m starting a new series. My editor doesn’t want me to talk about it quite yet as it won’t come out until 2024, so for now, my lips are sealed. However, I am self-publishing a Christmas romance titled HOPE FOR THE HOLIDAYS, in November.  You can find out more on my website.

How long have you been writing?

I started writing years ago as a screenwriter, but I didn’t start penning mysteries until this century. It took nearly eight years to publish my first book, but I’ve been super busy ever since. This is my 27th book.

Anything more you would like to say to your readers and fans?

I hope any reader who wants to write will pursue his or her passion. Write a page a day. If you do, you’ll have a book in a year. If you need inspiration, find groups specific to your genre online. Join a critique group. Write more. Edit a lot. Mark Twain said you can’t edit what isn’t written. No matter what,
Believe you can!
