When Hayden was a child, she lost her cat. Adults told her the cat has escaped the house and ran away, but she knew the truth. The mirror had taken her. She knew because the mirror had given her a glimpse of an alternate world and had nearly pulled her in, so she was certain the cat had suffered that fate.

Twenty years later Hayden discovers the true secret of the mirror when she is thrust into it by a mysterious villain. She learns of a world she never knew existed, and a family she never knew she had. But danger brought her here, and it followed her. And now, Hayden is on a mission to see that the threat is removed, so that she can begin her magical, meaningful new life in this enchanted world.

“A magical, delightful tale that held my attention with a quirky cast of characters, engaging dialogue, a pleasantly appealing universe, and an intriguing plotline that I could not put down. I can’t wait to see where we go with Hayden’s next adventure.”  — Dru Ann, MWA Raven Award winner

“What a captivating read! . . . I couldn’t put it down. A great story, full of interesting people and places to get to know, with surprises around every corner.” — Linda C. Goodreads reviewer

“The world-building and magic system is fascinating. Destiny Falls is a wondrous place that seems to cater to citizens’ wants and needs. I love that it is almost a character in its own right, and I was intrigued by the constantly changing world. Vivid imagery paints a clear picture of Destiny falls and its inhabitants. Falling into Magic is a dynamic introduction to the Destiny Falls Mystery & Magic series.” — Julie Petitbon

Character Guest Post: Meet Chanel

By Elizabeth Pantley

Author of Falling into Magic, Destiny Falls Mystery & Magic 1

Hello there, thank you for inviting me to your page. My name is Chanel, and I’m a Persian cat. I have an important role in Destiny Falls. I’m the beloved pet of the matriarch of the Caldwell family. I believe I may be the only living thing she truly adores, but don’t tell her husband that, he might take offense. She and I have a psychic connection, which is necessary since she doesn’t speak Cat.

My position in the family is to keep my lady tranquil, but sometimes that is the hardest job! She’s not the calmest person you’d ever meet – well, to be fully honest, she’s probably strung tighter than anyone you’d ever meet. You can’t really blame her though. She has an entire family and an estate to oversee, and everyone looks to her for guidance. Well, to be truthful, they don’t really ‘look to her,’ she just bullies her way in. But she’s been this way for so long it’s considered the normal pecking order. She has a way of controlling people and places around her that books no argument.

Thank goodness, that’s true! When an emergency occurs, say, someone gets poisoned, (not that they do, I don’t want to give away any plot points here,) she rises to the occasion and takes control. She knows what needs to be done and she’s quick to assign tasks to the appropriate person.

Luckily, my lady adores me, that means everyone shows me the respect and level of care that makes my life blissful here in Destiny Falls.

EXCERPT from Falling in Magic, Destiny Falls Mystery & Magic, 1

I heard a meow from the kitchen, and panicked, I hoped that Latifa hadn’t found her way downstairs, but it wasn’t her.

“Oh, what a beautiful cat!” I exclaimed. “Is she a Persian?”

For the first time, Eleanor truly smiled. “This,” she said proudly, “is my precious Chanel. And yes, she is a Persian.”

The gorgeous long-haired white cat looked up at us with her brilliant copper eyes and entered the room like royalty. She walked over to stand beside my chair and looked up at me. Her head tilted from side to side as if she was questioning who I was. And perhaps she was – after my experience with Latifa it wasn’t far-fetched.

“This is Hayden,” Eleanor said to the cat.

Okay, yep. It seems they had that telepathy thing going on, too.

“She has just arrived from The Outside.”

Chanel squinted her eyes and nodded at me. Then she turned and walked to a beautiful pink silk cat bed (that I swear wasn’t there before) and settled in to quietly watch us.
